Doug
Ritter’s excellent site on preparing for the unexpected.
Reviews of survival and emergency gear, analysis of real-world
survival situations and great links. Also check out the Survival
Forum. A great community of friendly, knowledgeable, and
helpful people interested in survival preparedness. One of the
best sites around.
An
international free online magazine dedicated to life in the
great outdoors, related tools, wilderness knowledge, primitive
knowledge, wilderness survival, camping, hiking, trekking,
knives, etc. Equipment reviews, techniques, and some good
general information.
The
perennial disaster relief agency in the United States. Good
information on disaster safety and preparedness, though limited
by political correctness. Much of the Ready.gov info is almost
word-for-word from this site.
The
U.S. Department of Homeland Security official site on emergency
preparedness. While it has some decent information on basic
preparedness issues, it is limited by its sense of political
correctness.
The
FEMA web site offers information on recent and ongoing
emergencies and federal relief efforts. Also links to other
pages offering preparedness information (DisasterHelp.gov).
A large
library of articles and links on survival preparedness and
survivalist topics. Not all of it is up to date, some links do
not work, and many of the articles are pretty hardcore
survivalist, but some interesting reading if you’re willing to
wade through it.
If you
are into flashlights, this is the forum for you. If you’re not
into lights, go there anyway just to be amazed at what people
can get obsessed about.
